Alcantarea
The genus Alcantarea contains some of the kings of bromeliads. Most species are large growing plants that enjoy a full sun aspect and are generaly easy care .
In habitat they are found growing on granite outcrops in eastern brazil. In the garden they are show stoping specimens and respond well to a regular fertilizing routine. As a potted plant provide a well drained mix, and as they mature allow for the many litres of water they hold by counterweighting the pot to stop falling over.
Cold is not a problem for this group and plants develop best colour and shape when fully exposed to the elements
Below you will find a list of some of the Alcantarea we stock.
